2020 - Current: Owner of Changing Norms, LLC
2011 - Present: Principal of The High School for Math, Science and Engineering (HSMSE) at The
City College of New York.
2004 - 2011: Assistant Principle at Brooklyn Technical High School.
2017-2019: Master Ambassador Principal (MAP). The program was designed for strong school leaders to take on said assignment for a one-year period, sufficient to allow for a sustainable, dramatic improvement in the quality of instruction and administration at the school.
Background
Born and raised in New York, Crystal earned her undergraduate degree in business marketing from the State University of New York at New Paltz and had worked in the corporate world for several years, prior to becoming an educator. She received a master’s degree in education and another in school administration and supervision. Currently, her doctoral research focuses on the potential benefits for students, whose high schools are on college campuses and the social network theory. Her prior research focused on expanding and retaining the participation of African-American and Latino students in gifted programs.
